8 Mindset Hacks to Reinvent Yourself for 2021

When our lives appear to take a turn for the worst, we have an opportunity to thrive from the challenges we face. Reinvention means to reframe our perspective of our current situation so we can set ourselves up for success in the future. 2020 has been a series of instability, insecurity, and unpredictability. However, we can look at this year as teaching valuable life lessons we will carry with us into 2021.

As a mindset coach and reinvention expert, I am sharing 8 mindset hacks to reinvent yourself for the New Year:

1. Pain is temporary

When you are in a season of transition, it will feel endless. Whether you face a job loss, divorce, or feeling stuck, these uncomfortable moments enter our lives to serve a purpose. Pain is a stepping stone to our inner growth. When we can look at our pain with compassion and curiosity, we can find that it was a lesson showing us what we need to release to evolve into a new version of ourselves.

2.  Hold onto hope

Focus on the positive things you can control, like gratitude and mindfulness. When we can cultivate gratitude for the simple necessities of our lives, like having access to food and a roof over our heads, we can shift our minds from a place of fear to a place of love. Mindfulness helps us stay present with where we are. It is important to ground ourselves when we don’t feel in control of everything else.

3. Change is necessary

If you want your life to change, you have to change. You have to take the necessary steps to identify what limiting beliefs are holding you back. This journey is difficult because you are shedding a past version of you to welcome a new one. When we break our old belief systems, we have to learn to create new ones that move us forward to the future we want.

4. Create goals and make the decisions for your future self

Ask yourself who you want to be a week, month, and a year from now. What will these future versions of you accomplish? Create goals and make decisions to set up your future self for success. Maybe this means investing in a class, a career coach, or joining a networking group. Make decisions based on where you want to be, not where you are now or who you used to be.

5. Make peace with the past so you can live in the present

When we focus our energy on the past, we can be trapped into thinking with a victim mindset. We can get stuck replaying the same scenario over and over again, wishing it would change. Remove “I should have,” “I could have,” and “What if I did…” from your vocabulary and replace it with “I did the best I could know what I did at the time.” Make peace with your past by forgiving yourself for making mistakes. Mistakes are seeds of growth. Focus on where you are now because the present is all you can control.

 6. Move forward with action

When you feel stuck in your situation, look for what you can do to impact your life positively. What actionable steps can you do to help you get to where you want to be? It can be as small as starting a gratitude journal every morning or as monumental as taking the leap and moving to a new place. Take actionable steps to your dream life because you are always in control of your destiny.

7. Identify what’s holding you back and release

Rewriting your narrative is an important mindset hack to reinventing yourself. We all have a story we tell ourselves. Identify and rewrite the narrative as to why this event in your life happened for you instead of to you. Sometimes our narratives are passed down from family members without realizing it and can cause second-hand stress. Have compassion when you are aware of the inherited beliefs that no longer serve you and release them with grace.

8. Get a life coach to guide you through

Reinvention can be an intimidating process, but you do not have to go through it alone. Investing in a life coach is an investment in your well-being. A coach can guide you through the process of transforming into the new version of you so you can move forward with a fresh perspective. Change is hard, but it is easier to have someone help you navigate your journey with you.

I have had many reinventions throughout my life, all from facing circumstances out of my control. I am now well equipped to handle any unforeseen events that come my way, and I am now sharing my strategies as a mindset coach and reinvention expert. If you seek to change your life but don’t know where to begin, let me help you!
